Of course social activities can not be left out in a student association. Our activities committee organizes 2 to 3 activities per month. Every year the committee tries to be as creative as possible to think of the best activities, but there are also a few activities that return every year.
Directly at the start of the study year there are two open rehearsals. Soon after, when the new members are enrolled, there is the new-member-activity. This normally consists of a small dinner followed by a nice, exciting or even challenging activity, organized by the activities committee. Both new and old members are welcome to get to know each other better with this activity. December is busy for everybody, therefore also foor Q. Just before Christmas there are a few performances by QLite and not to forget the Christmas activity!
In January/February there is again an open rehearsal to acquire new members for the orchestra. These new members can then immediately join the QWeekend, the yearly rehearsal weekend in March, in which we mainly rehearse and have a lot of fun activities. We usually stay outside of Nijmegen. The weekend committee already begins at the start of the year with the organization, and every year the weekend is a great success! Furthermore the activities committee organizes a yearly discobowling activity in the new year.
Q also keeps up with sports. Every year we join the Batavierenrace and often there are several tournaments in ice-skating, table tennis, soccer and pool. At the Batavierenrace, the world’s biggest student relay race, our team ‘Q is good for you!‘ shows our sporty side through the night, morning and afternoon. This is rewarded with a great party on the campus of Twente University, followed by a nice night in a tent to regain some of the missed hours of sleep of the first night.
When the year is almost over and we soon have to say goodbye to eachother for a few weeks, a last activity will be organized. Summarized, with Q a lot can be done. Of course participation in the activities is wholly voluntary, but a nice time is definitely guaranteed!
